In 1932 Fanny Willoughby was played by Kathleen Fleetwood who became Kathleen Phelps and taught at BGSG for many years. In 1962 the same part was played by Brenda Knight.
"Readings from J. M. Barrie's play "Quality Street" were also held during the term. The first of these took place on December 1st, and they were continued on December 8th, when members of Form II also took part as school children. Scenes from "Quality Street" were also acted in Recitations by members of the Society, on December 17th.

"These scenes proved so successful that they were again acted on Speech Day on June 23rd, with the following cast:-

Miss Phoebe Throssel - Marjorie Young
Miss Susan Throssel - Lillian Venn
Miss Mary Willoughby - Joan Goodall
Miss Fanny Willoughby - Kathleen Fleetwood
Miss Henrietta Turnbull - Marjorie Salter
Patty - Barbara Hobbs
Captain Valentine Brown - Margaret Wevell

"The picturesque costumes added greatly to the charm of the play, and gave the atmosphere of the early nineteenth century. The pathetic scenes in which Miss Phoebe recalls the time when she was "young and pretty", the quaint speeches of Patty, and her hopes of getting a "follower" even after fifteen years of waiting, the abrupt interruptions of Miss Susan just at the wrong moment, and finally the last scene where the gallant Captain Brown succeeds in solving the problems of "Miss Livy" for the two sisters and in winning the hand of "charming Miss Phoebe", made the play enjoyable and not only to the audience, but to the performers themselves."
