"We are especially proud of the photographic supplement which we present to our readers this term, for it portrays those Old Boys who have been selected to represent their Country during the present season of 1913-14 either in hockey or football field." The Morganian School Magazine April 14th 1914 published just before the First World War. Soon some of these would be heading for the trenches and Front Line War.

Lieut J.M. Edgar of Dr Morgans School Bridgwater & the 4th South Staffs Regiment

In July 1915, J.M. Edgar wrote the following letter to the Morganian School Magazine

It may be that some of your readers and more especially those of the younger generation, give a thought, at odd moments to my humble self. They may be assured that I often think of them and my old Form Room, an, were it not for the duty before us all, would long to be back again....... I am glad to know that so many Old Boys have joined the colours, and I feel sure they will give a good account of themselves. May they be blessed with the best of good fortune and take part in the general reunion of Morganians that we will look forward to when our task is o'er.

A Group of Old Boys Now Serving in India

Taken from The Morganian Magazine December 1914

Thursday October 1st was certainly a red-letter day in the calender of some who had thus volunteered their services, for on that day they left their native town en route for India, to take the places of the regular troops who had been recalled to the fighting line in France.
